Pathways to Reducing Chronic Absenteeism Forum

Sep. 30, 2020; 9 am - 3 pm at FEA

Fee: $149

Chronic Absenteeism (missing more than 10% of school days, for any reason) can have a profound and lasting impact on students' economic and social development. It erodes the positive benefits of Pre-K, leads to poor reading skills, higher dropout rates and lower earning across a lifetime. Leadership can make a difference. Analyzing data, identifying root causes and building a culture that promotes consistent school attendance are key steps in addressing this silent problem. Join leaders in philanthropy, education and social services to learn how a grant-funded initiative in Mercer County is addressing the educational and social development of students in four large school districts while reducing chronic absenteeism rates.

Addressing student learning gaps, ensuring high quality instruction for all students, and fostering continuity of learning across virtual, in-person and blended learning environments are three of the most profound instructional challenges facing educators today. In order to meet these challenges, schools need a systems-based approach and concrete tools that can drive the work of educators. The Connected Action Roadmap (CAR) provides a sustainable process for professional learning communities (PLCs) to collaboratively and effectively implement high quality, standards-aligned instruction and assessment. Supported by the NJ DOE and the leading educational organizations across the state.
