This workshop will review the collective bargaining rights of NJPSA members, and address unique issues regarding the impact of the global pandemic and other recent events on member rights. Specific topics to be addressed will include the duty to ensure a safe working environment, employee rights to reasonable accommodations and/or approved leave for various reasons, including being at-risk for COVID-19, the right to bargain over changes in terms and conditions of employment, including the assignment of additional duties. Participants will also gain an understanding of statutory rights, and the negotiable aspects related to adverse employment actions such as RIFs and non-renewals, the role of the local Association president and officers, and the services available through NJPSA to support members.
