Research shows that students need to become engaged in productive and mathematical discourse during lessons, while stressing that we are not learning math but are learning how to think like mathematicians. Providing lessons that offer these opportunities is a new focus for math instruction, but teachers are often frustrated when trying to plan lessons that offer these opportunities. This workshop offers a model lesson designed to engage teachers in productive struggle & math discourse, then provide strategies.
