Participants will: (1) examine the components of a reading culture and its purpose; (2) identify the intended and unintended benefits of promoting a culture that acknowledges all its members; (3) gain an understanding of how book talks build coherence among a diverse group of educators; and (4) explore the use of books to support the social, emotional, and equity needs of the students and staff they serve. Each participant will leave with tools and practices that can be used immediately to enhance the established culture.
