In order to achieve this component of the framework, educators need to have expertise in the development of assessments. Participants in this interactive workshop will learn how to develop a wide variety of reliable and valid assessment instruments that can be used to assess and evaluate student's knowledge and skills.

Students who experience difficulty identifying and regulating emotions, taking perspective and understanding their role and their responsibility within the larger school community typically have lower levels of social-emotional competence. This workshop will explore the research, competencies elements and tenets of social-emotional learning, provide practical strategies for infusing SEL across the curriculum, and assist participants in identifying next steps to integrate SEL with a focus on special education.

Problems with adult-to-adult relationships in school are often swept under the carpet. Yet, this set of relationships can make or break your school's goal of creating a positive learning environment for students. Adult interactions also greatly impact a school's capacity to promote the highest levels of student academic success. In this workshop, you will reflect on the adult relationships within your school, explore the causes of toxic adult-to-adult relationships, learn tools to support the development of clear expectations for professional behavior, consider the relationship between SEL instruction for students and adult modeling of SEL skills, and consider ways to create a strong sense of professionalism through collaboration.

Improving student learning and strengthening teacher practice require a systemic and sustainable process, driven by the collaborative work of PLCs and shared leadership. The Connected Action Roadmap (CAR) provides a coherent approach to curriculum, instruction, assessment and school climate that builds a common language and understanding and shifts the focus of educators from compliance and programs to process and effective practices. Endorsed by the NJDOE and the leading educational organizations across the state, the CAR framework is currently being used by teams of educators from across the state to develop curriculum and instructional tools in ELA & Math.
