Restorative Practices is a skillset that introduces educators to both a philosophy and method for addressing harmful behaviors. Its central tenet is that microaggressive and other demeaning behaviors introduce harm and damage relationships. Unlike traditional school discipline that investigates and punishes, Restorative Practices provide a method for educators to identify harm, build accountability, and bring healing to damaged relationships.
By participating in this workshop, educators will be able to 1) Understand the philosophical view that supports Restorative Practices (RP). 2) How RP work as a skillset and approach to discipline. 3) How RP connects with student engagement, empowerment, and voice.
