*Assessing Student Readiness for Learning

Aug. 3, 2021; 9 am - Noon (ONLINE)

Presenter: Kim Tucker, FEA Consultant

How can educators address varying degrees of learner readiness? Readiness is a student's entry point relative to a particular concept or skill at a given time. Participants will learn how to adjust for readiness in various ways, including:

  • Adjusting the degree of difficulty to provide an appropriate challenge.
  • Adding or removing scaffolding.
  • Adjusting the context of the task based on student’s prior knowledge.
  • Creating tiered tasks for students.
  • Varying direct instruction by individual or small group need.

This session will help educators locate and teach in the Zone of Proximal Development.
